Who is Jay Reidsma & Who is Dawn Webb?
Open Letter to the Tuscarora Township Voters:
Tuscarora Township is in a period of tremendous growth and opportunity, and that is why this election is so critical.
We can elect JAY REIDSMA, a TRUE conservative Republican who is a retired engineer with substantial management and organizational skills.
Based on Resident’s concerns, Jay has a plan, a pledge to the voters, and a vision for the future.
He has spoken with hundreds of residents so he can truly represent the PEOPLE of Tuscarora Township.
He is PRO Police, PRO Parks, PRO Sewers, and has pledged NO NEW TAXES.
He is PRO transparency, PRO fiscal responsibility, and PRO efficiency and excellence in government.
He has voted Republican since the Reagan Era.
So let’s look at Jay’s opponent, Dawn Webb…
Her social media page states that LENA THOMPSON (LLC) is responsible for the content of that page. Ms. Thompson is a Democrat Officer at Large with the Michigan State Democratic Party.
On her own “letter of endorsements”, numerous names are non-residents and many are Democrats.
Made numerous expenditures without prior Board approval, including expensive software purchase, paying salaries to people that were past their approved period of employment, paying a bonus to an employee that exceeded the Board’s approved amount.
Did not present employee payroll records for Board approval until Trustees objected.
Used her position as Clerk to try to RESTRICT public access to Burt Lake in her own neighborhood. She wanted the County and Township to waive their authority so the neighborhood would have control of access to Burt Lake.
Ask yourself and ask the candidate…Who is the REAL Conservative Republican?
Vote for JAY REIDSMA. A Republican, A Conservative, A Person we can all TRUST!
My name is Janet Vance and I am a Trustee on the Tuscarora Township Board. In the August 2nd Republican Primary Election, Jay Reidsma is running for the office of Township Clerk, and I whole heartedly endorse Mr. Reidsma for this position. I believe he is the right person for the job. Jay has all the business and management skills essential to be a success. With his extraordinary organizational abilities, and his expertise in policies and procedures, he will be able to help the Board build the necessary framework to move the Township forward.
Jay Reidsma is the ONLY Conservative Republican endorsed by the Cheboygan County Republican Party. He is also the ONLY candidate with a plan, a vision, and a pledge to the people of our community. Jay has taken the time to speak with hundreds of residents, and to listen to their concerns. I urge you to visit his website (Jayforclerk.com) to learn more about Jay, and I'm sure you will be impressed.
The August 2nd Republican Primary will be a critical election and the people will have the opportunity to decide the direction of our township. In my view, this election will be a choice between developing a path for the future of our township that will benefit all the people in the township, OR, it is a vote for the "status-quo" which benefits a small minority of the elites.
Vote for JAY REIDSMA, and together we will make our hometown a better place for EVERYONE!
Janet Vance, Tuscarora Township Trustee
As you know, I am totally committed to the success of our $14 million sewer project. It’s been six years in the making.
Jay Reidsma is running for Tuscarora Township Clerk. I have spent a lot of time talking with Jay Reidsma and his family. He shares our common values. Values that include service before self. He has decided to give back by coming out of retirement to share his incredible management and organizational expertise to make all our lives better.
Jay and I don’t agree on every issue. But what we do agree on is success of a $14 million sewer project that is the largest infrastructure endeavor in the history of this township.
Therefore, I endorse Jay Reidsma for Clerk because he supports the sewer project and he will work with me to ensure success. Apparently, the Cheboygan County Republican Party agrees. They have endorsed Jay Reidsma for the August 2nd Primary.
Bob Kramer, Tuscarora Township Trustee
Here are some reasons why I am voting for Jay Reidsma. Jay is a true conservative. He is the only candidate for Tuscarora Township Clerk endorsed by the Cheboygan County Republican Party. He also shares my conservative family values. Jay Reidsma is the only candidate with a plan and a pledge. Other important attributes I like about Jay Reidsma: he is honest, trustworthy and transparent; and he truly cares about the township and its residents.
Jay Reidsma will not take it upon himself to make decisions that affect our township and residents without open discussions and board approval. Jay also supports the sewer project and will address the underfunded police pension liability. All of this, plus Jay’s compassion and understanding, are reasons why I support Jay Reidsma for the Aug. 2 Primary for Tuscarora Township Clerk.
Having already heard and read a variety of rumors, misrepresentations and accusations in reference to the upcoming election for township clerk, it seems to be we can do better than
repeat the nastiness of the national political landscape.
We are fortunate to have two qualified local candidates with somewhat different visions of how the township board should conduct itself. Both are articulate and accessible. If you have questions or concerns, why not ask the candidates directly rather than making assumptions or making up stuff about them?
Who knows? Maybe such a fact-based approach to politics, conducted in a spirit of good will, could catch on and spread further.
This election presents a unique opportunity for this township. Voters can support the oligarchy of the old guard or support change. If the insular thinking could solve the township issues, why do we have a growing amount of debt, empty buildings on main street, high turnover in the office, and continuing office controversies?
Jay Reidsma will be a breath of fresh air for the township office. He has financial management experience, he has personnel management experience, he has the education, and he has the temperament to improve the culture of the office.
In addition to possessing these skills, Jay is committed to providing information to taxpayers about where their money goes, to be fiscally responsible, and to improve the office efficiency.
I was honored that several hundred of my neighbors voted for me in the last election. I am happy to endorse Jay Reidsma and ask my neighbors to join me in supporting him for Tuscarora township clerk.
